Your IP address

This is the address you are using on the internet right now. Every server you visit sees it like this.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • No tracking, no ads
  • IPv4 and IPv6

IPv4 or IPv6?

If your connection has both, your device usually prefers IPv6. We show the address your request reached us from, the other one may exist as well. Many devices change their IPv6 address regularly (privacy extensions); the front part, the prefix of your connection, stays the same.

What is reverse DNS?

The reverse DNS name (PTR) is the name the owner of the address range has set for your address, for home connections usually a name of your provider. Mail servers check it before accepting mail; for servers a PTR of your own is therefore worth it.

FAQ

Do you store my IP?

Only briefly to limit abuse (counters per address, gone after a day) and in the usual server logs as described in our privacy policy. No tracking, no ads, no cookies.

A VPN shows a different address.

Right, with a VPN you see the address of the VPN server here, because your request reaches us through it.
